Milton Garage may have newly launched in Springkerse, Stirling in Spring 2022, but we are 100 years old.
A century ago, Archie Morrison started as a motor mechanic with his brother David in Camelon Falkirk in the family named business of D.Morrison & Sons, before starting out on his own at Barnton Street Stirling Motorcycles service and repairs in 1925 for BSA Royal Enfields.
Soon after, the Morrison name was relocated to Whins of Milton, with a workshop to repair and sell motorcycles and Morris, Hillmans, MG and Riley car brands. The enterprise expanded to selling petrol too and displayed the name MILTON GARAGE above the door.
The arrival of the second generation of Morrison’s saw Sandy, Logan, Ian and Sheena starting to run business and the Milton name changing to Morrisons Garage Ltd in the mid-1960’s.
Throughout the 1960’s, 70’s and early 80’s, further expansion of the Whins site saw the arrival of workshops and showrooms for classic automotive brands like BMC, Morris, Singer, Rootes (later Chrysler) and Datsun (later Nissan), before switching to the Austin Rover and Land Rover franchises.
1984 Morrisons Garage Ltd changed franchise from Datsun/Nissan to Austin Rover and Land Rover.
The 1990’s welcomed the third generation of the Morrison family, cousins Archie, Alan and Andrew, to take over the running and further expansion of the business, with the distinctive Morrisons Land Rover showroom built on a green field site adjacent to Morrisons Garage Ltd in 1998.
The Morrison name was synonymous across Stirlingshire for ‘customer care’, and in 2017 the prestigious Jaguar franchise was awarded to the family business.
Shortly after, the Whins development was sold to the John Clark Group … but the Milton and Morrison story doesn’t end there. In fact, it’s come full circle.
Led by the experience and vision of Andrew Morrison – and with this exciting new development offering the same exacting levels of customer care and service – you could say the ‘new’ Milton Garage is a contemporary enterprise that’s 100 years in the making.
